The Brief

Updating Three Dated Rooms

The bathroom, separate toilet and laundry had all reached the end of their life together — beige brick tiling, a small wall-hung basin and worn vinyl underfoot.

Renovating them as one project meant a single strip-out, one waterproofing stage and one run of tiling, with the finishes matched across every room rather than three separate jobs.

Common Questions

Questions About Bathroom & Laundry Renovations

What does a bathroom and laundry renovation involve?

Strip-out of the old fixtures, tiling and flooring, then waterproofing, tiling, and the fit-out of vanities, tapware, benches and storage, with plumbing and electrical coordinated between the trades.

Can the bathroom, toilet and laundry be renovated together?

Yes, and it usually works out better. The rooms share plumbing and wall spaces, so completing them as one project means one strip-out, one waterproofing stage and one set of trades on site.

Why is waterproofing certified before tiling?

Waterproofing is the layer that protects the structure behind the tiles. It is applied to Australian Standard AS 3740, left to cure and inspected, and a compliance certificate is issued before any tiling starts.

How long does a renovation like this take?

A bathroom, toilet and laundry completed together typically takes several weeks, depending on the scope, the condition of the existing rooms, and how quickly fixtures and finishes are selected.
